Orchid of the Bayou

So I've been trying to read as much as I can on Usher Syndrome.

This book has been the first and only one I have been able to get my hands on.

I have more coming from the library (thanks Maxine!)

Anyways it wasn't too bad. It seems to most focus on her deafness and then in the last chapters it talked about her having Usher. And it was interesting, and also a little scary. And by a little scary it made me question and re-think having children. Is it something I want to do? Yes, it is. But it seems that becoming pregnant for some unknown reason speeds up the vision loss. And that scares me...a lot.

So this is going to be something I talk about with my eye doctor, but I'm not too sure how much information he can give me.

But regardless it wasn't that bad of a read, and it does give people insight on Usher and how fast it can hit you, and how you can go so long without knowing and realizing that you have it.
